INNERVISIONS: Exploring the Mental Health Languages through the lens of ART

Artbae presents… INNERVISIONS: a tribute to Stevie Wonder!

This virtual event explores the Mental Health Languages SOUND, TOUCH, SIGHT, MOVEMENT & TASTE through the lens of ART, while also paying homage to STEVIE WONDER and highlighting his sixteenth studio album INNERVISIONS (released August 3, 1973).

The album’s title INNERVISIONS is a metaphor that speaks to the fact that one must dig deep inside of themselves in order to have a clear vision. The album itself encompasses a wide range of relevant themes and issues to include drug abuse, inequality, systemic racism, love and more.

--------

Come vibe with us as we explore ways to boost your overall well-being by partaking in self-care activities such as listening to music, practicing mindful movement to your favorite song, visualizing and creating a work of art, stimulating your taste buds with an aromatic dish, and much more!

INNERVISIONS: a tribute to Stevie Wonder will consist of a weekly virtual panel discussion moderated by medical psychologist Dr. Andrea Boudreaux and STEAM advocate Da'Shaun Joseph every Wednesday during the month of August, with a program from 7-8pm EST and a concluding performance thereafter. Each week will be dedicated to a specific Mental Health Language and will feature an artist who is highly proficient in “speaking” in that particular language.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, August 5th: SOUND/MOVEMENT featuring Pharmacist/Singer/Songwriter/"PharmArtist" Sean B (w/ special guest Deborah Bond!) & Movement Artist Wychdotka

  • Wednesday, August 12th: MOVEMENT featuring Health & Wellness Advocate Christina Ashe and Dancer/Instructor Angela Ingram of Joy of Motion Dance Center)
