Artbae, in collaboration with FELT Exclusive, invites visual artists to submit work for Moments Felt in Color, a curated art experience exploring the emotional, cultural, and sensory worlds of R&B and Afrobeats.
Presented within the FELT Experience, this is more than a traditional exhibition. Visual art becomes part of a larger environment where music, dining, nightlife, culture, and human connection intersect.

We're asking artists one central question:
What does music feel like in color?
A lyric that stays with you. The intimacy of slow R&B. The pulse of Afrobeats. A memory attached to a melody. The energy that shifts when the right song enters the room.
We want to see the feeling behind the sound.

THE CREATIVE DIRECTION
R&B × AFROBEATS
ART • MUSIC • CULTURE • EXPERIENCE
Interpretation is intentionally open.
Work may explore love, intimacy, desire, Black joy, movement, memory, nostalgia, identity, diaspora, nightlife, vulnerability, healing, rhythm, culture, connection, or your own visual interpretation of the worlds these genres create.
For the R&B experience, the creative brief draws from the cultural intimacy and communal energy of the Black beauty salon, a space where information traveled, grief was held, joy was loud, and care was shared.
The Afrobeats/Amapiano environment draws from the warmth and abundance of an open-air Southern and West African marketplace at golden hour, where music, goods, language, culture, and joy move together.
These environments are creative inspiration, not limitations. We want artists to bring their own perspectives, experiences, and visual languages to the conversation.
Don't simply illustrate the music. Show us what it makes you feel.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
We welcome emerging, mid-career, and established visual artists.
BALTIMORE ARTISTS PRIORITIZED
ALL ARTISTS ARE WELCOME TO APPLY.
Artists outside Baltimore are encouraged to submit as long as they can meet all artwork delivery and exhibition requirements.
Existing artwork is welcome. You do not need to create a new work specifically for this call if your existing work authentically connects with the theme.

ABOUT FELT
FIVE SENSES. FOUR ROOMS. ONE NIGHT.
FELT is a multisensory party and dining experience built at the intersection of food, music, visual art, nightlife, culture, and connection.
Each environment draws from spaces and experiences that have shaped Black cultural life, transforming them through art, sound, atmosphere, and storytelling. The creative brief envisions distinct environments spanning R&B, rap, Afrobeats/Amapiano, house, and jazz.
Moments Felt in Color brings that concept into the visual arts, inviting artists to turn sound, memory, culture, and emotion into something guests can experience beyond music alone.
ONE NIGHT. TWO SOUNDS.
ENDLESS FEELING.
R&B gives us the slow burn.
Afrobeats gives us the pulse.
Both hold memory. Both move bodies. Both carry culture. Both create moments that stay with us long after the music stops.
