Artbae LLC presents: Intimate Encounters - Exploring the Art of Intimacy, Connections, Safe Sex Education and the Human Body
Date: September 16, 2023 | 4pm-9pm
Selina Union Market, 411 New York Ave NE, Washington, DC 20002
About the Event:
In light of Sexual Health Awareness Month this upcoming September, Artbae LLC is launching the Intimate Encounters program, a groundbreaking event sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. This unique program aims to raise awareness about HIV and sexual health through education and exploration of art through the five senses expressed through the vulnerability of sex (touch), the statements of fashion (sight), the elation of music (hearing), the nourishment of food (taste), and the sensations of memories (smell).
The event will take place on Saturday, September 16th from 4-9pm at Selina Union Market & Coworking Space in Washington, DC. We will be utilizing the entire building, with different areas dedicated to different aspects of the event. We have planned mini-performances throughout the evening to create a unique and immersive experience for our guests.
SHOWCASE THEME:
Artwork of all media and subject matters will be considered. However, erotic art is most preferred, and it is strongly encouraged that the artistry featured in the showcase explores the subjects of intimacy, connections and the human body (breaking away from the stigma attached to it). These concepts can be illustrated through visual art, live art, body painting, fashion and mixed media art
*NOTE: Artists who best embody the showcase theme will have the opportunity to have their work recognized during the event, and receive incentives such as stipends and exclusive artist talks on our featured platforms.
