About the Concept

The campaign title “Concentric Circles” pulls from the visual arts concept of repeating and connecting circles. The title is a nod to the meaning of the term, where circles of various radi have a common center. In this case, the common center is support of the Artbae Foundation and the work they do in the community, and the circles of different radi, are the contributing artists (or ‘the village’) coming together to support the Foundation.

The “Concentric Circles” Exhibition

The exhibition will be held at the Creative Suitland Art Center’s gallery during the inaugural Hats off to Artbae: Winter Fundraising Mixer & Birthday Bash and will be on display for public viewing and purchasing from Saturday, January 13th - Friday, January 19th. Up to 100 artworks will be sold at a fixed price of $75. This would yield $7,500 in profit for the Artbae Foundation. There will also be a pre-sale online viewing/purchase opportunity before the public in-person event, limited to a VIP audience. Items sold at pre-sale online would stay on display, but will have a red dot on their name card.

Guidelines for Participating

Artworks are to be created on the 12” circle canvases provided by Artbae Foundation.  2D mixed media artworks should not have any elements that exceed the 12” canvas circumference.  However, elements can be taller than the canvas depth, as long as the artwork can hang on a wall with all mixed media elements secured.

A limited number of 3D artworks/sculptures can be accepted.  They cannot exceed a 12” H x 12” W x 12” D footprint.  Artbae Foundation is unable to provide materials for 3D artworks/sculptures.

The hanging hardware (a silver D ring) on the back of the canvas is a reference point for the top of the canvas.  The hardware is how the artwork will be hung in the gallery.  Do not remove the hanging hardware (silver D ring) from your artwork.

There is a white tag with a number attached to the back of the canvas.  The number of your canvas should be entered in the Submission Form you complete when you are ready to turn in your artwork. Do not remove the numbered white tag.

Participation in Concentric Circles is free.  However, if a participating artist cannot complete the canvas(es) by the submission deadline, they will be responsible for a contribution of $25 per unsubmitted canvas to Artbae Foundation.

All art submitted to Concentric Circles is considered a donation and will be eligible for sale with all proceeds benefiting the Artbae Foundation.

Artwork can be any theme and any form. Images that reflect nudity or profanity are discouraged.
